************************************* The
History of Da Sign & The
Opposite *************************************
It
all started with a squabble. When very young, Wubert de Aiir
and Djeree Djëf le touriste hit each other on the head
with a log. Gong. In the cavities of their uneducated
heads, lo, there were strange sounds and thus it came to pass
that Wubert and Djeree Diëf devoted themselves to the
generation of sounds. In order to mediate between the two,
Smatman and Roboman installed The Twins. Of course, these
days a thump on the head to create their music is no longer a
requirement. Nevertheless, that initial gong is symbolic for
their engaging with the sane and the cracked. In this sense
the musicians act as unpaid ancillary workers of the
Department of Health. Musically “Da Sign & The
Opposite” represent a world of contrasts. Pretty much
anything goes, from a heady Capri summer feeling to
crash-bang-wallop electric shocks. Whether it is head-banging
or a stunned sunrise revelation with an MKII or an auto-cue,
the music of “Da Sign & The Opposite”
reflects the contradictions of our existence.
